Kobido is more than just a massage. It is a traditional art, much like origami or the tea ceremony, rooted in great precision. However, it shares similarities with so-called “deep” massages that work down to the muscle level. Extremely complex, it is based on more than a thousand techniques, which are divided into 48 categories.
Within each category, several variations are proposed depending on the area of the face they are applied to. These techniques are performed with a cream rather than an oil to maintain close contact with the tissues. From time to time, the therapist adds a few drops of water to enhance the glide.

What is Kobido Massage?
Kobido is considered a traditional art in the Land of the Rising Sun; it not only tones facial muscles but also stimulates overall energy circulation. This technique has been known for millennia and involves “smoothing, stroking, pinching, kneading, massaging, stretching, tapping, and vibrating the skin.”
As a result, the complexion becomes more radiant, wrinkles are smoothed, the body is invigorated, and serenity is restored.
During the massage, fingers, wrists, forearms, and shoulders are engaged in a sequence of synchronized movements (strokes, kneading, tapping, vibrations, etc.) that resemble a ballet choreography! One side of the face is worked on, then the other. Depending on the intensity and speed of the movements, the action on the facial structures is more or less deep, with the aim of the session being to create a true “lifting” effect on the face.
One gets up from the massage table with the sensation of very firm skin, as if “injected,” and well-toned muscles! Other Kobido massages offered in institutes are only inspired by this traditional method. This does not mean they are not pleasant to receive or effective, but they are not practiced in the traditional way. In any case, Kobido is aimed at tired and aged faces.

Although each trainer and each training follow their own process, all our trainings are divided into two parts: Theory and practice. The theory part will be conducted with all the trainees and the trainer, who will bring in a model to demonstrate the service. Then it’s time for your models, which will allow you to practice and evaluate yourself at the end of your training.
